Chairperson of the Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan Gulbara Kalieva met with representatives of the media today.
Journalists asked her about the ambiguity of court decisions on lawsuits against the media.
In particular, the journalists noted that in their decisions the judges demanded to remove materials from website of a media outlet, citing the ruling of the plenum of the Supreme Court.
Gulbara Kalieva admitted that the judges indeed ambiguously interpreted the decision of the plenum of the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic on the media.
«The resolution of the plenum was adopted relatively recently. Indeed, it is not regulated. We will raise this issue at a meeting of the scientific advisory board. Perhaps, the ruling will be reviewed. When a journalist interviews, he or she does not know what the respondent will answer. I personally, as a lawyer, believe that journalists cannot be held accountable for spreading the words of respondents,» she said.
