Attempted violent coup charges against Tolubai Kolubaev dropped

Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan dropped charges of attempted violent coup against a member of People’s Parliament Tolubai Kolubaev. The Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic reports.

Sentence of Tolubai Kolubaev was reduced. He has to serve five years in prison.

As the head of the Committee of Political Prisoners, Saparbek Argynbaev, told 24.kg news agency, the representation of lawyers of Tolubai Kolubaev about release on parole should be considered in the near future.

In May 2016, the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) opened a criminal case against members of the People’s Parliament Association. They were charged with preparation for violent seizure of power and preparation for use of violence against representative of authorities of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Bekbolot Talgarbekov and Tolubai Kolubaev were sentenced to 14 years in prison with strengthened security regime, Marat Sultanov — to ten years, Toigonbek Kalmatov — to five years (suspended sentence), Alexander Gusev — to six years (suspended sentence).

Judicial Board for Criminal Cases and Administrative Offenses of the Supreme Court considered the petition of the convicts Marat Sultanov, Bekbolot Talgarbekov and Toigonbek Kalmatov, as well as the presentation of the institution 27 on revising the decision of the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic on new circumstances. It was rejected.
