Ex-president of the country Almazbek Atambayev asked for forgiveness from the people of Kyrgyzstan for the fact that he, a man who fought with two family regimes Akayev and Bakiyev, brought the Jeenbekovs to power. He stated this at a meeting — requiem dedicated to the memory of the victims of the tragedy in Aksy on March 17, 2002.
According to the former head of state, the Jeenbekovs have one task — to return the family and clan rule and remove Atambayev.
The SDPK leader added that if Asylbek Jeenbekov had abandoned his deputy’s seat on time, then Sooronbai Jeenbekov would have no such problems now. He would not have been reproached for trying to restore the family and clan rule. «The Parliament is currently controlled by Asylbek Jeenbekov,» Almazbek Atambayev said.
Seventeen years ago, security forces brought down fire on peaceful demonstrators in Bospiek village of Aksy district, Jalal-Abad region. Six people died. Local residents protested against transfer of Kyrgyz land to China. The riots began after the arrest of Aksy compatriot Azimbek Beknazarov.
