There are 2,312 million children under 18 in Kyrgyzstan. More than a half of them are boys (51 percent). The National Statistical Committee reported.
The number of kids under 7 is the largest — 1.75 million people (46%). There are 946,000 children at the age of 7-14 (41%) in the republic. The lowest is the number of adolescents aged 15-17 — 291,000 people.
The National Statistical Committee notes that the overwhelming majority of children (69 percent) live in rural settlements.
Last year, the number of children in Kyrgyzstan increased by 49,000 (2.2%).
