Regions of Kyrgyzstan to have clean drinking water by 2023

Regions of Kyrgyzstan will have drinking water by 2023. The head of the State Agency for Architecture, Construction, Housing and Utilities Baktybek Adbiyev announced today at a meeting on water projects.

According to him, currently, the most important issue is to provide the population of Kyrgyzstan with clean drinking water. In 2016-2017, the procedure for ratifying the agreements was carried out. Implementation of projects will begin this year. They are to be completed by 2023.

«The State Construction Committee is to deal with attraction of investments policy, and local authorities — with implementation. However, often mayors of towns and heads of rural administrations do not understand the nuances,» Baktybek Abdiyev said.

There are 1,860 settlements in Kyrgyzstan, 430 of which have no clean drinking water or an outdated water supply.

Baktybek Abdiyev said that there are enough problems all over the republic. The most problematic are the villages in Batken, Osh and Naryn regions.
