83 percent of traffic accidents in Kyrgyzstan caused by drivers

83 percent of traffic accidents in Kyrgyzstan are caused by drivers. This was announced today by the Deputy Chief of the Main Directorate of the Patrol Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ymanaly Sarkulov, addressing students of the Agrarian University.

According to the department, the peak of the accidents occurred in 2013, when as a result of an accident, 1,220 people died.

Ymanaly Sarkulov assures that the Main Directorate of the Patrol Police of the Ministry of the Interior is actively working to reduce the number of accidents.

In 2016, 938 people died on the roads of Kyrgyzstan.

The number of deaths in accidents decreased by 8.3 percent, and the number of injured in road accidents increased by 6.5 percent.

Nine percent of road accidents are committed by drivers in a state of intoxication. 33 percent of accidents are caused by speeding. 11 percent of accidents occurred in connection with entry into the oncoming lane.
