Electoral threshold of 9 percent to be introduced in 2020

The electoral threshold of 9 percent for the parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan is proposed to be introduced in 2020. Such a proposal was made by the deputies today at the session of the Parliament.

According to Mirlan Bakirov, it is necessary to increase the electoral threshold to 9 percent from January 2020. Dastan Bekeshev agreed with him.

Iskhak Masaliyev noted that no one can guarantee that next year there would be no parliamentary elections. «After the presidential elections, it may happen that the parties initiate the dissolution of the Parliament. How should we act in this situation?» he asked.

However, the initiators insisted on the entry of this norm into force from 2020.
