7-year-old Kyrgyzstani wins bronze at World Chess Championship

Seven-year-old Kyrgyzstani won bronze medal at the World Chess Championship. Chess-results.com reported.

According to it, Iasi (Romania) hosted the World Chess Championship among schoolchildren on April 23–30. Participants competed for medals in several age groups (up to seven, nine, 11, 13, 15 and 17 years). Kyrgyzstan was represented by one chess player — Chyngyz Sultai, who competed in the category of up to seven years. At the start, he scored five straight victories and took the first place in the standings. However, in the last four rounds he had two defeats and dropped to the third line.

According to the results of nine rounds, Sultai has seven points. During the tournament, he defeated representatives of Turkey, Mongolia, Russia, China and Georgia. In total, 65 players from 22 countries fought for the victory.
