Alfiya Samigullina: Science in Kyrgyzstan is separated from practice

«Science in Kyrgyzstan is separated from practice," the deputy Alfiya Samigullina said today at the meeting of the parliamentary committee.

The bill «On Science» is being considered at the meeting. Deputy Kubanychbek Zhumaliev spoke in favor of maintaining separate funding for the National Academy of Sciences.

You speak as an academician. Science is separated from practice. Scientific research hasn’t received any practical significance. Science is for science’s sake, and it must be the engine of progress so that we can raise our economy. There is no such link.

«And the fact that science has been financed for so many years has shown ineffectiveness of this. By offering to leave a separate financing, you think that the Academy of Sciences won’t be able to compete with university science, you are afraid of it! We must create the same conditions for the whole science. The National Academy of Sciences shouldn’t have privileges because there are such respected academicians," she added.

«Let’s not destroy the operating system, we will leave financing at this stage as it is — directly from the republican budget," Kubanychbek Zhumaliyev said.
