27 small hydropower plants commissioned in Kyrgyzstan over five years

Over the past five years, 27 small hydropower plants with a total capacity of 110 megawatts have been commissioned in Kyrgyzstan. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Adylbek Kasymaliev said in his speech at the second meeting of the Heads of Government/Vice Presidents of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Baku.

He also noted that agreements have been signed on solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of 6,050 megawatts and investments of $4.7 billion. He emphasized that the Kyrgyz Republic is open to investment in this area and is ready for constructive dialogue and the creation of favorable conditions.

Concluding his speech, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev made proposals to reduce non-tariff barriers within the organization, strengthen cooperation in digitalization, and develop human capital in order to fulfill the objectives set by the heads of state of the organization.

He also expressed his firm belief that close cultural and humanitarian cooperation is an essential condition for regional stability, and called on the organization’s member states to actively participate in the 6th World Nomad Games, which will be held from September 1 to 6 this year in the Kyrgyz Republic.
