Manas Airport official ID found in plane downed in Sudan: Details

The documents of Manas International Airport (MIA) OJSC (badge), found during a plane crash in Sudan, belonged to Airline Transport Incorporation FZC employee Viktor Granov, and not to an employee of Manas Airport. Manas Airport reported.

According to its information, Viktor Granov is a Russian citizen and was invited as a pilot to ferry an An-12 aircraft from Manas Airport to Osh International Airport in May of this year, but he did not fly the aircraft due to his busy schedule.

The badge was issued to him in connection with the planned ferry of the aircraft in May. The airport noted that MIA issues such badges not only to its employees, but also to all companies that cooperate with the airport on the basis of an agreement, so that people have unimpeded access to the airport terminal and the airport apron to perform their work duties.

The downed plane with tail number EX 76 011 belonged to the UAE company Rome Style, and in 2024 it was sold to New Way Cargo Airlines ST-JLN and has no relation to Airline Transport Incorporation FZC in Osh.

The Il-76 cargo plane was shot down in North Darfur province, where fighting continues between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF). It is assumed that there could have been Russian citizens on board.

Among the documents found at the scene was an official ID (badge) from Manas International Airport (Bishkek).
