Elections of deputies of 231 rural councils will be held on November 17. The Central Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan (CEC) reported.
According to its data, the total number of mandates is 5,391, and 30 percent of which (2,185) are reserved for women.
The CEC reminds that in accordance with the amendments to the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic «On Elections of Deputies of Local Councils», the electoral deposit has been abolished for candidates for deputies of rural councils.
According to the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic «On Elections of Deputies of Local Councils», a member of the local community, who has reached the age of 21 and has at least a secondary education, can be elected as a deputy of a local council. Both political parties and the citizen themselves can nominate a candidate through self-nomination. The elections will be held according to the majoritarian system, that is, candidates who receive the majority of votes will be considered elected.
Elections of city council deputies will also be held in 33 cities on November 17.
The presidential decree «On the dissolution of local councils and calling the elections of deputies of local councils» was issued on September 6. Elections of deputies of local councils are scheduled for November 17.
