President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov meets with Pope Francis

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov and the First Lady Aigul Japarova met with Pope Francis in the Vatican. The press service of the head of state reported.

Sadyr Japarov expressed heartfelt gratitude for the continued dedication to promoting the high principles and ideals of peace, justice and mutual understanding between peoples and religions.

He noted the great personal contribution of Pope Francis to resolving conflicts and restoring justice in various parts of the world.

The President emphasized that the Kyrgyz Republic is a secular multinational state, in which representatives of dozens of ethnic groups live in peace and harmony. The republic guarantees freedom of religion and does not interfere with performance of acts of worship.

Speaking about interfaith harmony, he added that all religious communities are an integral part of society in Kyrgyzstan and play an important role in its development. He also noted that one of the key traditional values ​​of the country has always been tolerance and respect for cultural diversity. Spiritual and moral principles have played an important role in the development of Kyrgyz statehood throughout history.

Pope Francis also highly appreciated the efforts of the Kyrgyz Republic in supporting a multinational and multi-confessional society, noting the importance of continuing work on preserving these values.

At the end of the conversation, Sadyr Japarov invited Pope Francis to visit Kyrgyzstan at any time convenient for him.
