Winners of International Film Festival in Naryn announced

About 2,000 films from 114 countries were nominated for the cultural festival Nomad 2024: The Infinite Sky, which was held on September 18-21 in Naryn city. Its organizers reported.

The international film festival is held to create a platform for aspiring filmmakers from Central Asia and other countries, where they can present their cinematic vision and artistry.

«The film festival focuses on provincial images and narratives, as well as urban life, contributing to the development of the film industry in Central Asia,» the organizers noted.

 

The jury of the film festival, chaired by director Ernest Abdyzhaparov, selected 39 films for screening, representing a wide range of genres and styles — from documentaries and feature films to experimental works.

Winners of the international competition:

  • Short film: Son, directed by Saman Hosseinpour (Iran);
  • Documentary: Gando, directed by Teymur Ghaderi (Iran);
  • Special Jury Mention: Memories of the Yellow River, Ji Shang (China).

Winners of the Regional Professional Competition:

  • Romeo, directed by Tynystan Temirzhan (Kyrgyzstan);
  • Tales of Ailin, directed by Asel Umaralieva (Kyrgyzstan);
  • Sabyr, directed by Marina Zibert, Damir Tanatov (Kazakhstan).

Winners of the Student Competition:

  • Film: Moments That Are Gone, Saadat Satayeva (Kyrgyzstan);
  • Visual Work: Fright, Children’s Laboratory Atom (Kyrgyzstan);
  • Most Promising Artist: Choice, Gulnur Kalmukhambetova (Kazakhstan).

The Audience Award went to the film Islam: We Walk with You, Kazuya Isobe (Japan).

The festival program also included an international competition of digital and virtual projects, an academic symposium and exhibitions with participation of local and international experts and academicians.
