COVID-19 outbreak: Doctors tell about situation in Kyrgyzstan

The coronavirus situation in Kyrgyzstan is stable, there are no outbreaks. The head of the Epidemiology Directorate of the Department of Disease Prevention, State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Dinara Otorbaeva told 24.kg news agency.

According to her, weekly monitoring is being carried out in the republic.

«In addition, sentinel epidemiological surveillance is being carried out in three cities: in Bishkek in one hospital and one Family Medicine Center, in Osh in two hospitals and two Family Medicine Centers, as well as in Tokmak city. When patients apply with a viral infection, doctors, if there are reasons, take tests for COVID, flu and other respiratory viral infections. According to weekly data, there is no high incidence rate, the indicators are the same as in previous weeks,» Dinara Otorbaeva told.

She noted that for the 30th week of 2024 (from July 22 to July 28), 10 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 were registered in the republic, and for the 31st week (from July 29 to August 4), only two cases. There are no hospitalized people.

«Why is there an outbreak of COVID in France? There are very large crowds of people there, COVID-19 is transmitted by airborne droplets, and people can get infected through close contact. But in recent years, coronavirus has not been as severe as during the pandemic. The population has already developed a certain immunity, the course of the disease is the same as other respiratory viral infections,» the head of the Epidemiology Directorate added.

We should not worry so far. Athletes can return from the Olympic Games without examination.
