Coal consumption in Kyrgyzstan decreases by 58,000 tons for 6 months

According to the analysis of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of Kyrgyzstan, coal consumption in the country decreased by 58,000 tons over the past six months. The head of the Department for Atmospheric Air of the ministry, Nursultan Tashybek uulu, reported at a press conference.

According to him, the main source of pollution in the cold season remains the heating of residential buildings, which accounts for 29 percent of all emissions.

Nursultan Tashybek uulu told that provision of gas supply was the most environmentally friendly solution. To date, more than 25,000 households in Bishkek are connected to gas.

The head of the department also named other sources of air pollution in the capital:

  • Transport — 27 percent;
  • Dust — 21 percent;
  • HPP and boiler houses — 11 percent;
  • Waste incineration — 1-2 percent;
  • Other facilities — 1-2 percent.
