Amendments have been made to the Law «On Elections of Deputies of Local Councils». The press service of the head of state reported.
According to it, President Sadyr Japarov signed the Law «On Amendments to the Law «On Elections of Deputies of Local Councils».
The document was adopted by the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan on June 27, 2024.
The law provides for amendments aimed at improving and unifying the norms of electoral law, creating mechanisms for the implementation of active electoral rights for a wider range of citizens. It also envisages further implementation of measures to ensure the rights of persons with disabilities, the introduction of mechanisms to promote greater representation of women, increased liability for bribery and abuse of administrative resources, including during the campaign period.
The document streamlines the requirements for voter lists, lists of candidates of political parties, polling stations (no more than 3,000 voters at each station), voting procedures (remote, electronic), vote counting, summing up the voting results and determining the election results, reducing the electoral threshold for political parties to access the distribution of deputy mandates from 7 to 5 percent.
