The court fined ex-minister of education of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Beishenaliev 1.5 million soms. The Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek informed 24.kg news agency.
The former official was found guilty under Article 337 «Abuse of official position» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. In addition to the fine, he was deprived of the right to work in public service for three years.
Almazbek Beishenaliev filed an appeal to the City Court, but it left the district court’s decision unchanged.
Almazbek Beishenaliev was detained on September 28, 2022 while taking a bribe of $110,000. According to investigators, he extorted money for the enrollment of foreign students in domestic universities. After compensation for damages, the former official was released from custody.
