Mayor of Bishkek launches construction of multifunctional town

The mayor of Bishkek launched the construction of a multifunctional town.

According to the press service of the City Hall, the ceremony was attended by head of the Department of Presidential Affairs Kanybek Tumanbaev.

A multifunctional market complex with residential areas, a bus station and an automobile assembly plant will be located on the western side of Julius Fuchik Street. The total area of the projected territory is 162 hectares.

The site conditionally proposed for construction is divided into three large areas: commercial, industrial and residential ones. All of them will be separated by park areas.

The shopping and market complex will include a large number of shops, pavilions and cafes located on four floors. The first floors will be occupied by food stalls. The remaining floors will house retail outlets for industrial, textile and household goods.

A hotel, a large bus station and a business center are planned to be built on the adjacent territory of the shopping complex and market. It is also planned to build a mosque, medical and sports centers, and a restaurant.

On the southern side of the site it is planned to build a large residential complex, including 58 four-storey apartment buildings, a school and a kindergarten.

It is planned to locate recreation areas, adjacent parking lots and children’s playgrounds in the residential area. The green park bordering the residential complex will include: a zone of cultural and mass events, a sports and recreational workout platform, a children’s playground and a walking zone for quiet rest.

A medical center with a polyclinic and a sports complex with a swimming pool are planned to be built on the territory of the complex.

«This large-scale project is aimed at improving the urban infrastructure and improving the quality of life of our citizens. It also solves the problems of urban traffic jams by moving the Western bus station and Osh market to the new complex,» the statement says.
