75-year-old pensioner Saliya Tashtanova, detained for social media posts, was fined. The Jalal-Abad Regional Court informed 24.kg news agency.
The woman was found guilty under the article «Public calls for violent seizure of power» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic and was sentenced to a fine of 50,000 soms.
The pensioner was detained in October. According to her lawyer Toktosun Zhorobekov, after the arrest of Adakhan Madumarov, Saliya Tashtanova made an appeal to the President Sadyr Japarov and the head of the State Committee for National Security Kamchybek Tashiev and stated that prices had risen in the country and there was no justice. Afterwards, investigators opened a criminal case against her for «discrediting the president and the head of the State Committee for National Security» and for «calling on the people.»
44-year-old Chynygul Sherkulova, a resident of Kochkor-Ata, was detained along with Saliya Tashtanova. She was also charged under Article 327 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The woman is accused of spreading false information on social media. According to the lawyer, she was a member of Butun Kyrgyzstan party.
The materials of Chynygul Sherkulova’s case have not yet been submitted to the judge for consideration.
