Ministry urges farmers to switch to breeding highly productive livestock

The Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan urges farmers to switch to breeding of highly productive livestock. The head of the Ministry Askarbek Dzhanybekov said at a briefing.

He noted that Kyrgyzstan is famous for the quality of meat.

«To date, 1,200 billion soms are in our banks under Leasing of Farm Animals project. I would like to draw the attention of farmers to this and replace the existing low-productive livestock with high-productive one. It is high time to do this. We create conditions for this as much as possible. Access to finance — at 6 percent for seven years. It is possible to get cattle in leasing, paying only 10 percent,» Askarbek Dzhanybekov said.

He added that it is necessary to increase the amount of meat the country can export. «There are problems with this, with the permit system. But we are working on it. If next year we get the status of a FMD-free state with vaccination, it will allow us to export meat outside the republic,» the official concluded.
