Investors from Qatar ready to study projects in Kyrgyzstan

The President of Kyrgyzstan met with Sheikh Faisal bin Thani Al Thani, Chief of Asia-Pacific & Africa Investments at Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ooredoo Group.

According to Sadyr Japarov, the visit of the expert group to Kyrgyzstan takes place in accordance with the agreements reached during the visit of the Emir of Qatar. He also expressed interest of the Kyrgyz side in supporting the development of investment cooperation between the two countries and readiness to familiarize with all investment projects.

Speaking about the investment potential of the republic, the head of state noted the hydropower industry, which has great potential.

Faisal bin Thani Al Thani said that the delegation was ready to study the country’s investment climate and opportunities to invest in various sectors of its economy. He also announced the interest of Qatar’s major tourism companies in development of cooperation in the industry.

Ooredoo Group is an international telecommunications company headquartered in Doha and provides mobile, wireless, wireline and other services. It was founded in 1987 as a telephone exchange and later grew to become the largest telecommunications operator in Qatar, offering new technologies including mobile, broadband, digital and fiber optic services. It became the first operator in the world to launch commercial 5G services in Qatar and one of the world’s largest mobile communications companies with more than 156 million customers worldwide.
