A resident of the Russian Korolev city collects books for Talas library. Vesti Podmoskovya reported.
According to the media outlet, Meerim Subanbekova has been living in Russia for more than 20 years. She is the wife of a physics engineer and mother of three children. Now she collects books for the Talas city library.
«Every year my children and I come to visit my parents. This year I came with my youngest daughters, Elizaveta and Ekaterina. One day we decided to go to the city library to take books for reading... when we came to the library, we were horrified by the deplorable state of the library collections. None of them (library workers — Note of 24.kg news agency) remembers the last time the fund was replenished with new books,» Meerim Subanbekova told and decided to collect books to donate to her hometown.
According to her, students of the Kolomna Theological Seminary in Korolev were the first to respond and have already donated five boxes of different books. The initiator herself also bought more than a hundred copies; the books are donated by her friends from their home libraries.
