The Scientific and Educational Center for Altaic and Turkic Studies Great Altai of the Altai State University opened a representative office at the Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University (KNU).
According to the head of the center, the President of the Russian university Sergei Zemlyukov, cooperation between the universities has long traditions, historical roots and good prospects.
Scientists from KNU and other universities of Kyrgyzstan work in three scientific areas.
It is planned to enhance not only scientific, but also educational cooperation between the two universities. To date, the universities are implementing a joint master’s program on social security of the media space of the Great Altai. New programs are planned for the next year.
«Opening of the representative office is a gift for historians, scientists, those who are engaged in Altaic studies. This is an important topic for our entire society. I hope that interesting discussions will take place here and good results will be obtained,» said KNU rector Tolobek Abdyrakhmanov.
Kyrgyz and Russian researchers have been studying the historical and cultural roots of the Turkic civilization together since 2020. Archaeologists, ethnographers, political scientists, geographers, philologists and other specialists are involved in the project. Three joint ethnographic expeditions were conducted in the Kyrgyz Republic and the Altai Republic. This year, another one is planned — to Jalal-Abad region, where scientists will continue to reveal Kyrgyz-Altai ethno-cultural ties.
In addition, historians from the Kyrgyz Republic work as part of an international team of authors of «Chronicles of Turkic Civilization», the first volume of which will be released at the end of 2023.
