National Bank of Kyrgyzstan issues new 200, 500 and 1,000 som banknotes

The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan will put into circulation 200, 500 and 1,000 som banknotes of the new, fifth series of the national currency from May 10. The Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic Kaiyp Kulenbekov told at a press conference.

According to him, the new series of banknotes is dedicated to the 30^th anniversary of the introduction of the national currency of the country and reflects its evolution since its introduction in 1993 to the present: from simple coupons containing a minimum set of security elements to banknotes with a high level of protection against counterfeiting.

The main direction in the plots of the new series of banknotes — reflection of the historical and cultural heritage of Kyrgyzstan — remained unchanged.

Portraits of representatives of art and culture on the front side and sights of the republic on the reverse side of the banknotes have been preserved. The main color and size also remained unchanged. The new banknotes of Kyrgyzstan contain a three-level complex of modern security elements that provide reliable protection against counterfeiting.

All banknotes of the national currency have the status of an official means of payment on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic and are subject to mandatory acceptance as means of payment, regardless of the year of issue.
