Another fire breaks out in Boom gorge

A fire broke out again in Boom gorge. Eyewitnesses told 24.kg news agency.

The fire broke out in the same place as last time.

The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations confirmed this information and reported the details of the incident.

«Information about ignition of dry grass in Kok-Moinok village was received. To extinguish the fire, two fire brigades and a task force led by the head of the Issyk-Kul regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were involved. The fire area is about 40 ares,» the ministry reported.

Recall, a large fire broke out in Ton district of Issyk-Kul region near Kok-Moinok village on March 24. More than a hundred people were involved in its extinguishing. At that time, the fire destroyed about 60 hectares of floodplain forest.

Photographer and environmental activist Vlad Ushakov later published pictures showing the extent of the damage done to nature. He expressed fears that Kyrgyzstan could completely lose those few forests that it still has.
