It's not my fault - Kurmanbek Bakiyev about killed in April and June 2010

Fugitive president of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiyev gave an interview to journalists regarding the meeting of former presidents of the country in Dubai, which was held at the initiative of the head of state Sadyr Japarov.

He noted that he positively assesses Sadyr Japarov’s initiative to unite.

«This initiative shows how mature he is as a politician. In this difficult situation, not only for our republic, but for the whole world, he is trying to call society to unity. At the meeting, Sadyr Japarov did not pursue personal goals. He could blame the former presidents for everything and choose populism, but Sadyr Japarov chose a difficult, but at the same time the right path. This shows that he has grown both as a person and as a politician,» Kurmanbek Bakiyev said.

He noted that the meeting was generally peaceful.

«All its participants supported the initiative of Sadyr Japarov and, as a result, decided to put aside personal grievances, not divide the people and think about the content of the cases,» the fugitive president emphasized.

At the same time, he touched upon the April events of 2010, which led to his flight from Kyrgyzstan, and the June events in Osh.

«I do not want to analyze now who is to blame for the deaths of people killed on April 7, 2010, and subsequently in the south in June. But it’s not my fault. I have said more than once that I am ready to participate both in the investigation and in court cases on these issues,» Kurmanbek Bakiyev added.

The fugitive president Kurmanbek Bakiyev was sentenced by the Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan to 24 years in prison.

Earlier, Askar Akayev commented on the meeting and praised Sadyr Japarov. Almazbek Atambayev, the initiator Sadyr Japarov himself, and Sooronbai Jeenbekov also commented on it.
