Fifteen members of the Committee for Protection of Kempir-Abad reservoir, suspected of attempt to seize power by force and placed in Bishkek remand center 1, appealed to the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov.
The arrested note that they are forced to do this, despite the authoritarian nature of the head of state, who, in their opinion, «abolished such state institutions as courts, parliament and law enforcement agencies, took their powers to himself and assumed full responsibility.»
«We know perfectly well that all power is in your hands. We understand that you are deeply indifferent to our health and life. However, we decided to appeal to you. Kyrgyzstan is becoming one of the authoritarian countries of the world. The attempts to establish authoritarianism are being carried out together with the head of the State Committee for National Security Kamchybek Tashiev. This is evidenced by the illegal deportation of a citizen of Kyrgyzstan, Bolot Temirov, who criticized Tashiev, the closure of Azattyk website — the voice of the people and freedom, the persecution of free and critical citizens, bloggers and the opposition, human rights activists and active citizens who oppose the transfer of Kempir-Abad to Uzbekistan, arrests and persecution of deputies. We will prove to you that even if we are behind bars, even if our loved ones are subjected to harassment and pressure from various law enforcement agencies, there is a strong political opposition in Kyrgyzstan, a strong civil society, strong human rights activists and strong journalists who are fighting for freedom and democracy,» they said.
They also demand the release of «political prisoners and female leaders illegally arrested in the falsified Kempir-Abad case, raising children alone, being the only breadwinners in their families, respecting their name, essence, greatness and status.»
From now on, you and the head of the State Committee for National Security Tashiev are responsible for the life and health of the starving members of the committee for the protection of Kempir-Abad reservoir.
