In 2021, the volume of pollutant emissions into the atmosphere from controlled stationary sources amounted to 54,500 tons. Report of the National Statistical Committee «Environment in the Kyrgyz Republic for 2017-2021» says.
The volume increased by 9.9 percent.
«Of these, emissions of sulfur dioxide as one of the main types of air pollutants increased from 7,800 tons in 2017 to 15,100 tons last year (or 1.9 times). Bishkek accounts for about a half of emissions of air pollutants (45.5 percent),» the report says.
In general, emissions per 1 square kilometer amounted to 272.6 kilograms, and per capita — 8.5 kilograms in the republic in 2021.
It was previously reported that the impact of air pollution on health from July 1 last year to June 30, 2022 led to 112 deaths and the loss of 3,568 disability-adjusted life years.
