Temirlan Sultanbekov elected Vice President of Socialist International

Congress of the Socialist International (SI) has completed its work in Madrid (Spain). The delegates elected new leaders of the association. The closest associate of the former president of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev, Temirlan Sultanbekov, became Vice President of the SI.

The current Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, has been elected the President of the Socialist International.

Representatives of Albania, Romania, Portugal, France, South Africa and Mexico also became vice presidents.

The Socialist International is an international association of social democratic parties. It considers itself the legal successor of the Socialist Workers’ International that existed before the start of World War II.

The SI to date unites 150 parties from 126 countries of the world and is an accredited UN organization in the first consultative category.
