Invasion of Kyrgyzstan: 365 houses destroyed in Batken region

At least 365 houses were destroyed in Batken region. Yrysbek Zholdoshbaev, the head of the Rescuers Training Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan, announced at a briefing.

According to him, cleaning of destroyed objects will begin in the region from tomorrow.

«In total, 365 houses, 6 strategic facilities, 168 sheds, 168 life support facilities and 16 cars were destroyed,» Yrysbek Zholdoshbaev said.

He added that 53 units of special equipment and 615 rescuers are working in the region. «They do the work of receiving, shipping and delivering humanitarian aid. We are visiting the destroyed facilities and assessing the damage,» the official said.

Emergency situation has been introduced in Batken region. Shooting began at several sites of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the morning of September 16. Settlements in Leilek and Batken district came under fire. The Ministry of Health reported 198 victims, 59 people were killed. As a result of the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, residents of seven villages in Batken and Leilek districts, as well as Dzhekendi village in Chon-Alai district of Osh region, left their homes.

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan opened a criminal case on crimes against peace.
