Invasion of Kyrgyzstan: Junior sergeant Manas Baatyrbekov is among killed

Junior sergeant of internal troops Manas Baatyrbekov was killed during the conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. Relatives of the soldier confirmed the information to 24.kg news agency.

He was fatally wounded by shell fragments during shelling at Golovnoy water intake site near Aksai village. Manas Baatyrbekov was 27 years old. He planned to marry in early October.

Manas Baatyrbekov was buried today in Batken.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health reported 121 victims, 24 people were killed. Accurate data on losses among the military personnel is not yet available. The Border Service promised to provide information about the killed later.

Emergency situation has been introduced in Batken region. Shooting began at several sites of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the morning of September 16. Settlements in Leilek and Batken district came under fire. As a result of the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, residents of seven villages in Batken and Leilek districts, as well as Dzhekendi village in Chon-Alai district of Osh region, left their homes.

Presidents Sadyr Japarov and Emomali Rahmon agreed to ceasefire. But, according to the latest data from the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan, the Tajik side violated the agreements again.
