Prosecutor General comments on criminal cases against Bakiyev

The Prosecutor General of Kyrgyzstan commented on the criminal cases against the ousted president Kurmanbek Bakiyev and his possible return to Kyrgyzstan.

According to Kurmankul Zulushev, court decisions have been issued in criminal cases against the former head of state.

«But we cannot get a response on his extradition from another country. If he has the courage to come, if he wants an open trial and testify to the investigation, no one will hinder him. Let him come and we will investigate. There is already a court decision on the case,» the Prosecutor General said.

It became known earlier that Belarus refused to extradite Kurmanbek Bakiyev to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan for the fourth time. Three criminal cases were initiated against the former president, and, by a court verdict, he was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

The Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus refused to satisfy the petition of the Kyrgyz colleagues. According to the Belarusian side, the conviction of Kurmanbek Bakiyev is connected with persecution for political reasons.
