Work continues in Kyrgyzstan to reduce the cost of sugar for the population. The Antimonopoly Regulation Service reports.
The officials discussed sugar prices issue with a representative of the domestic factories Kaindy Kant OJSC and Koshoi OJSC at a meeting. Companies now produce sugar from raw sugar imported duty-free from Brazil.
Beet sugar production will start from the end of September.
«The wholesale selling price at the plant is 82.5 soms per kilogram. This price will be further reduced by the factory. To further stabilize the situation on the sugar market, branded retail stores have been opened within walking distance from Kaindy Kant OJSC and Koshoi OJSC, where sugar is freely available at a price of 85 soms per kilogram,» the Antimonopoly Regulation Service said.
