Kyrgyzstan was for the first time included in the Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2022. StartupBlink analytical center, which has been monitoring the startups annually since 2017, reports.
This year’s report assesses the startup ecosystems of 1,000 cities and 100 countries. As for the states of the Central Eurasia region, nine startup ecosystems are presented in the report: Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Moldova and Kyrgyzstan. Uzbekistan and Tajikistan are not yet among the top 100 ecosystems in the world.
This year, Kyrgyzstan entered the global index for the first time, taking the last, 100th place.
At the same time, the authors of the index note that the republic ranks second in Central Asia and the seventh in the regional economic rating.
Bishkek made its debut this year in the ranking of cities in terms of the level of start-up ecosystems — the 732nd place. Its score is slightly higher than of the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent. The authors emphasize that Chinese ecosystems dominate in the capital of Kyrgyzstan.
The USA, Great Britain and Israel take the leading places in the Global Startup Ecosystem Index. As for the closest neighbors, Russia is in the 29th place, Armenia — the 60th, Belarus — the 70th and Kazakhstan — the 74th. Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are not represented in the index.
The Global Startup Ecosystem Index assesses the state of the startups’ economy, describing their growth dynamics and key trends.
