At least 39 criminal cases have been initiated against police officers since the beginning of 2022. The head of the Internal Investigation Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Zholboldu Kochkonov, announced at a press conference.
«Some 53 employees are defendants in these cases. There are those among them who are under arrest, temporarily suspended, five people have been fired,» he said.
According to Zholboldu Kochkonov, out of 39 criminal cases, 17 were initiated on the facts of extortion. The vast majority of cases were initiated against employees working in Bishkek and Chui region.
