Journalist Kuttumidin Bazarkulov paid more than 3 million soms to the state and was released on Tuesday. Press service of the Jalal-Abad Regional Court informed 24.kg news agency.
On June 14, the Jalal-Abad City Court found Kuttumidin Bazarkulov guilty of abuse of office.
However, the journalist was released in the courtroom due to the expiration of the statute of limitations for criminal liability.
At the same time, the court recovered 3,215 million soms from the journalist to the state income.
Kuttumidin Bazarkulov headed the Jalal-Abad regional television and radio company in 2010-2016. He nominated his candidacy in the presidential elections on January 10, 2021, but later withdrew his application.
Kuttumidin Bazarkulov was detained in December 2021. The City Court ruled to detain him on charges of abuse of office while he was the head of the TV channel.
