USAID hands over equipment for production of denim clothing in Kyrgyzstan

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) handed over modern equipment to Textile Trans company, which will launch the first production of denim clothing in the country. U.S. Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

The 8.4 million soms equipment will be used for washing, boiling, drying, and ironing denim garments. For its part, Textile Trans invested in construction and additional sewing equipment. This investment will enable the company to launch full-cycle production of denim and offer a variety of products for men, women, and children.

«Last year, we opened the first mass-market store under the brand name MENIKI. This year, with USAID support, we are launching the first of its kind production of denim clothing in the Kyrgyz Republic. Our aim is to offer high-quality denim products first to local customers, and eventually to international consumers,» Nurgazy Myshyev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Group of Companies Textile Trans LLC and Salkyn LLC, said.

As a result of this expansion the company is expected to create more than 350 new full-time jobs and increase sales of its products.

«Our ultimate goal has always been creating jobs so that Kyrgyz people can earn more and improve their lives. That’s why I’m proud that this new production is expected to create new jobs for local women and youth,» Kaya Adams, USAID Mission Director in the Kyrgyz Republic, said.

Textile Trans LLC is the largest full-cycle cotton knitwear producer in the Kyrgyz Republic. Today, the Textile Trans Group of Companies includes five factories with a total area of 25,000 square meters and more than 1,500 employees.

The equipment is provided under USAID Enterprise Competitiveness Project. The project works with small and medium businesses in the fields of textile, food production, agriculture, IT, finance, and others to help expand their production and sales, leading to job creation in the country. Since 2018, the project has already provided support to more than 120 enterprises across the Kyrgyz Republic and created 5,550 permanent and 10,705 seasonal jobs.
