Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Edil Baisalov visited Balykchy town in Issyk-Kul region as part of his working visit.
He got acquainted with the work of the district departments of the Social Fund, and met with the activists of the region, where he told in detail about the planned pension reform.
The official noted that the level of pensions in the country is extremely low, so the main purpose of the reform is to increase the basic rates of pensions and to ensure sustainability and financial stability of the pension system as a whole.
Residents of the region asked to pay special attention to the issue of fair distribution of pensions.
Edil Baisalov noted that a number of significant changes are planned within the framework of the reform, which in turn may cause misunderstanding in the society.
According to him, however, all the changes are aimed only at increasing pensions for citizens and their fair distribution.
He participated in a round table organized by the Social Fund to discuss the pension reform with the participation of representatives of non-governmental organizations, deputies of local councils, public sector employees, entrepreneurs.
It was noted that it is necessary to carry out a large-scale informational and explanatory work on all the planned changes within the pension system.
«The pension that our pensioners now receive is negligibly small. The time has come to change this. We must ensure a decent old age for our pensioners. It is necessary to unite and explain to every citizen what the coming changes are aimed at. It won’t be easy, but we have the political will and support of citizens who transfer a part of their wages every month to get a decent pension in the future,» Edil Baisalov concluded.
