Head of Cabinet instructs to raise water level in Toktogul reservoir

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov visited the Toktogul HPP.

As the press service of the government notes, information was heard on the current operation of the station, the volume of water and ongoing repairs at the fourth hydroelectric unit.

The head of the Cabinet instructed to complete the repair work on time, as well as to reach the volume of at least 8 billion cubic meters of water by April 1.

According to the data of Electric Stations OJSC, as of March 18, the water level in Toktogul reservoir amounted to 7,925.37 billion cubic meters.

Kyrgyzstan faced an energy crisis due to a low water period. Power industry specialists fear that only 6-7 billion cubic meters of water could remain in the reservoir after the heating season. Some experts believe that this could lead to the shutdown of Toktogul HPP.
