At least 1,193 orphans live in Kyrgyzstan

At least 1,193 orphans live in Kyrgyzstan. The Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration provided such data.

The ministry recalled that from January 1 the monthly social allowance for children who have lost both parents, and children, both parents of whom are unknown, was increased to 6,000 soms.

In addition, the allowances of the following categories were also increased:

  • Children with disabilities — from 6,000 to 8,000 soms;
  • Children born by mothers living with HIV/AIDS — from 6,000 soms to 8,000 soms
  • Persons with group I disability since childhood — from 6,000 to 8,000 soms;
  • Persons with group II disability since childhood — from 4,950 soms to 6,600 soms;
  • Persons with group III disability since childhood — from 4,050 soms to 5,400 soms;
  • Children in the case of loss of one parent — from 1,500 soms to 2,000 soms.

The ministry noted that 34,181 children with disabilities, 35,670 adults with disabilities since childhood receive allowances to date. At present, there are 1,193 orphans in the country. Another 18,192 children receive allowances due to loss of the breadwinner.
