Kumtor's revenues fall by almost 3 billion soms

Compared to last year, budget revenues from Kumtor Gold Company CJSC decreased by 2,619.9 billion soms, or by 27.2 percent. The data were provided by the Ministry of Finance of Kyrgyzstan in its official response to a deputy Osmonbek Turdumamatov.

The parliamentary deputy asked the Minister of Finance Almaz Baketaev about the volume of gold production at Kumtor mine. He replied that he did not know, but could only tell about the tax receipts to the treasury.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the republican budget received 9,618.7 billion soms from Kumtor Gold Company CJSC in 2020, for 11 months of 2021 — 6,998.8 billion soms.

The ministry also reminded that the end product of production at the Kumtor mine is Dore gold containing gold, silver and other impurities, which is purchased by Kyrgyzaltyn JSC for its further processing at the refinery and subsequent sale.

«In this regard, the issue related to the sale of products from the Kumtor mine is within the competence of Kyrgyzaltyn OJSC. As for the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic, its functions include making forecasts of the income and expenditure parts of the consolidated budget, monitoring and analysis of actual income receipts,» the Ministry of Finance concluded.
