Kyrgyzstan to receive $8 million for budget support

The Asian Development Bank has approved $ 8 million budget support for Kyrgyzstan following the implementation of policy measures in the vocational technical education system. The Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan reported.

At least 16 policy actions were taken within the framework of «Sector Development Program: Skills for Inclusive Growth» project under the Ministry of Education and Science, in particular, experimental educational programs on a competence basis have been approved in accordance with professional standards; a module for teaching entrepreneurship was developed and included in experimental educational programs; the concept of on-the-job training has been developed and approved, and testing is underway in selected colleges.

In addition, a formula for normative (per capita) funding has been developed and tested in pilot colleges as well as a teacher development program, the key areas of work of which are professional development, retraining and training of the teaching staff. The methodology for analyzing supply and demand in the regional labor market was also approved; partnership agreements were concluded and are being implemented between industry partner employers and piloted educational institutions.

«Classrooms and dormitories are being reconstructed in eight pilot colleges. They will be provided with training equipment, furniture and computers,» the statement says.
