Election 2021: Single-mandate district elects form coalition in Kyrgyzstan

A coalition of candidates from single-mandate districts was created in Kyrgyzstan. Mavlyan Askarbekov, a candidate to Parliament running in Pervomaiskiy single-mandate constituency, told at a press conference at 24.kg news agency.

According to him, the candidates in single-seat constituencies became pioneers in the November 28 elections held under the new system.

«Only party leaders and party members were indignant after the elections and held meetings with the CEC and the Security Council. But no one raised our concerns or listened to us. The purpose of the coalition is to inform the public, government agencies about our multiple problems,» he said.

The candidates also appeal to the president and SCNS chief. They ask the officials to receive them and listen.

«Out of 36 districts, the elections did not take place only in Pervomaisky and Sverdlovsky districts. There are a lot of problems in the other districts. We went through the whole process and know everything. I openly state that there was bribery by dishonest candidates. However, for the first time in the history of independent Kyrgyzstan, no administrative resources were used,» Mavlyan Askarbekov said.

The newly formed coalition intends to fight for fair re-election in two districts of the capital. The candidates demand to ban bribery of voters and create equal conditions for all participants of the election process.

Kyrgyzstan held parliamentary elections on November 28.
