Sadyr Japarov: Improving welfare of disabled people is our focus

«Improvement of the living conditions of people with disabilities and solution of their problems related to the observance of their rights will always be at the center of the attention of the executive branch,» the address of the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities says. The head of state reminded that Kyrgyzstan and the rest of the world hold mass events on December 3, which show respect to people with disabilities as full members of society and draw attention to their urgent needs and problems not only today, but always.

«By ratifying the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities by a separate law, our state has undertaken to implement all of its provisions and enshrine the fundamental rights of people to life, access to infrastructure, equality before the law, education, work and employment,» he noted.

Sadyr Japarov added that these measures have become an important part of the National Development Program of the Kyrgyz Republic until 2026, the National Development Strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2018-2040. «Their implementation will make it possible to continue the state policy of rehabilitation and integration actions in order to provide maximum opportunities for full inclusion of persons with disabilities in society!» the president said.

After Kyrgyzstan ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, it continues its efforts to improve the living conditions of persons with disabilities, there are 196,400 such people in our country today.

«For these people, work is not just an opportunity to earn, it is a sense of their usefulness to society. In the process of work they communicate with others, get out of the house, make friends and acquaintances. Not only workplaces, but also theaters, cinemas, museums, and other cultural and entertainment venues should be equally accessible to people with disabilities,» he said.
