Kyrgyzstanis start collecting signatures for holding repeat elections

A petition has been created on change.org portal for annulment of the results of the parliamentary elections and holding repeat ones.

It says that the Central Election Commission (CEC) carried out massive falsification of the voting results after the end of the voting. The CEC chairwoman and other representatives of the authorities themselves admitted that the initial data of the automatic counting of votes, according to which a number of opposition parties got into the Parliament, were deleted and then re-entered manually.

«According to the new results, only parties and candidates loyal to the authorities enter the Parliament now. But it is precisely the absence of the human factor in the preliminary counting of votes that has always been the CEC’s argument about the reliability of the current electoral system. The CEC also argued that the automated system is protected from any errors and external interference,» the petition says.

The protocols from the polling stations are still not available to observers and election participants.

Creators of the petition demand to hold repeat elections, change the composition of the CEC, ban the candidates who were on the lists of Birimdik and Mekenim Kyrgyzstan parties from the race, and also prohibit participation of those caught in bribery in the elections.

Elections of deputies of the seventh convocation of the Parliament have been held in Kyrgyzstan. According to preliminary data from the Central Election Commission, six parties passed the 5 percent threshold. There is also preliminary information about winners in the single-member constituencies. The votes are being counted manually.
