Candidate Shailoobek Atazov intends to challenge election results

Shailoobek Atazov, candidate for deputy of Parliament of Kyrgyzstan in Toloikon constituency # 8, does not agree with the election results and will challenge them in court. He wrote about it on his Facebook page.

«We file a lawsuit. Elections in constituency # 8 were held with gross violations and the use of dirty tricks. We have evidence, including video and audio recordings. I will fight for the votes of 17,000 citizens who voted for me. Candidates who rely on their money and ignore the law did not fulfill the president’s call to hold fair elections, did not take into account the wishes of the people. Voters who called me all night, have patience, we will fight within the law,» Shailoobek Atazov wrote.

Five candidates ran in Toloikon constituency # 8. According to preliminary data, they won the following number of votes: Vitaly Zhukov (3.85 percent), Muhammed Temirbaev (0 percent), Aibek Orozbaev (5.91 percent), Nurbek Alimbekov (40.96 percent) and Shailoobek Atazov (36,81 percent).

After processing the data from the automated system (the data are also preliminary), 18,882 people voted for Nurbek Alimbekov, 16,971 people — for Shailoobek Atazov. At least 8.14 percent of voters, or 3,753 people, voted against all candidates.

Elections of deputies of the seventh convocation of the Parliament have ended in Kyrgyzstan. The electoral system was changed in the country, so there will be 90 deputies instead of 120. As a result, 54 deputies of the Parliament are elected according to the proportional system (open lists of candidates of political parties) in the single electoral district, 36 deputies — according to the majority system in single-mandate constituencies.

According to preliminary data from the Central Election Commission, six parties get into the Parliament. Winners in single-seat constituencies were also announced.
