Hospital for children opened at Tuberculosis Center in Bishkek

One of the newly opened hospitals for children was set up in the Tuberculosis Center in Bishkek. The Health Minister of Kyrgyzstan Alymkadyr Beishenaliev told 24.kg news agency.

According to him, the institution for 80 beds is located in the 7th microdistrict of the capital, doctors have been seeing patients there for two weeks already.

«Construction of a hospital for 150 beds began nearby at the expense of donors, it should be completed in nine months,» the official said.

The minister told that patients of the center were transferred to another TB center.

The capital’s City Hall told 24.kg news agency that the Children’s Center for the Prevention of Tuberculosis and Rehabilitation is located in the building of a former kindergarten. «We studied the statistics, children with tuberculosis have never been treated there. Issue of transformation of the center into a regular kindergarten or its use for city needs and purposes is on the agenda,» the City Hall spokesperson noted.

Opening of children’s departments in other buildings began after an increase in the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections and influenza and the overcrowding of the 3rd Children’s Hospital in Bishkek.

«Medical personnel were recruited from the reserve, about 30 doctors were invited from Osh region. Fifteen of them have already arrived, they were distributed between hospitals in the 7th microdistrict and on the basis of the Republican Diagnostic Center. These are young personnel and 45-60-year-olds. They were provided with housing at the Medical Academy, they live and work,» Alymkadyr Beishenaliev told.
