International reserves of Kyrgyzstan grow by $ 16.6 million in March

As a result of March 2019, the gross international reserves of Kyrgyzstan grew by $ 16.66 million. The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan reported.

Gross international reserves reached $ 2,197.15 billion. Compared with March 2018, they decreased by $15,008 million.

The volume of reserves has been growing steadily since November 2018. Their lowest level was recorded in September 2018, when reserves fell to $ 2,090.64 billion. Since the beginning of 2019, the reserves have grown by $ 41.69 million.

The National Bank uses reserves to smooth out sharp fluctuations in the foreign exchange market. In total, the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic conducted 11 interventions last year, buying $ 20,550,000 and selling $ 154,550,000. Net sale of dollars since the beginning of 2018 was $ 134 million. In January 2019, the bank entered the foreign exchange market only once, selling $ 18.8 million.
