Trial of Moldomusa Kongantiev begins in Bishkek

Trial of the former Minister of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Moldomusa Kongantiev, began in the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek.

The ex-head of the Interior Ministry is accused of negligence during the March 2005 events and the abuse of office during the April 2010 events.

The court questioned the former head of Jalal-Abad regional branch of the National Bank Melis Batyrbekov as a witness. He said that he was familiar with Moldomusa Kongantiev, who, according to the witness, saved his family during the 2005 revolution.

Recall, after April 7, 2010, Moldomusa Kongantiev left Kyrgyzstan. He was detained in Moscow by the FSB of Russia and extradited to Bishkek. On April 26, 2010, by the decision of the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek, he was taken into custody. Moldomusa Kongantiev was questioned as part of an investigation into the events that took place on April 6-7, 2010 in Talas and Bishkek. In July 2018, the criminal case against the lieutenant general was closed, but was resumed in December.
